Wonderful Republican Women's Dinner - Sept. 13th
We had a wonderful time at the Republican Woman Leaders Dinner on Friday September 13, 2024.
There were 7 speakers at the Republican Woman Leaders Dinner who exceeded our expectations.
They were vibrant women who were enthusiastic and eloquent when they spoke. Virginia Foxx US Congresswoman from the 5th district began the event by talking about what it was like being a Republican woman in politics. Then came Ashe County Clerk of the Court Pam Barlow who also had a very engaging talk. NC Senator Amy Galey spoke about her experiences followed by NC Senator Vickie Sawyer, District Court Judge Donna Shumate, NC Representative Sarah Stevens and lastly NC Court of Appeals Judge April. It was refreshing to hear public servants speak about their experiences in public office instead of hearing political campaign speeches. They were very personable in retelling their stories on how they came to be in public life and the issues they faced.
The winner of the gun raffle was announced, and the silent auction winners went away with lots of great items such as a gold bracelet, champagne flutes, an hour of interior design service, wine with decanter, and other great items.
This was the first dinner featuring women in this area and we hope to make this annual event.
